Marketing and Media Volunteer

Location: Liverpool

When: Mondays 10.00am - 12.00pm

Role reports to: Progression Coach

You will contribute to ending homelessness by

Helping to promote the work of Crisis  across the area, planning and delivering communications activity to supporters and the wider public to help raise awareness of homelessness, Crisis campaigns, events and fundraising.

 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ideally a background in journalism or studying in this field

  • Good IT skills including internet and research skills

  • Confidence in contacting people by phone, email and face to face to arrange meetings and represent Crisis
  • Flexibility in terms of the tasks you are asked to undertake and ability to manage own tasks

     

  • Ability to take initiative in the role and work independently when required

  • Enthusiasm, patience and respect for others

  • Good time keeping, attendance and listening skills

  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and maintaining boundaries

  • A commitment to ending homelessness and delivering a high-quality service for members

 

  • Workplace experience in a national organisation helping homeless people

  • To work on specific communications activity planned by the Crisis team for example:
  • Inputting into the planning of specific campaigns
  • Preparing media material (e.g. press releases) and working with Crisis staff, volunteers and members to obtain quotes (in line with Crisis policies and processes)
  • Liaising with target media about Crisis’ work
  • Researching and identifying other key media/PR opportunities
  • To interview members to gather success stories
  • To promote member stories to share with the wider organisation
  • To interview supporters of Crisis e.g. fundraisers to gain information on their experience and impact
  • To write press releases and other appropriate material in-line with Crisis policies and processes
  • To attend planning meetings with key members of staff to plan publicity for events
  • To attend key date events run by Crisis in your area

 

We expect volunteers to comply with Crisis policies including health and safety, data protection and code of conduct at all times.
