Group Facilitator Volunteer

Location: South Wales

When: Mondays 10.00am - 12.00pm

Role reports to: Progression Coach

You will contribute to ending homelessness by

Making a real difference in the lives of our members by helping them build social networks, improve wellbeing and build confidence as part of our member group. You will do this arranging varying activities each month, in partnership with the staff team. Activities could include: introductions to Crisis' Sessions, timetable reviews and guest speakers from local specialist services.   

 

 

  • Excellent IT skills with the ability to use the internet, email and Microsoft Office including Excel

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with a particular focus on listening

  • Good time-keeping and reliability

  • Non-judgmental, patient and friendly

  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and maintaining boundaries

  • Be positive, productive and have a passion to help end homelessness

 

  • Workplace experience in a national organisation
  • The opportunity to share existing or develop new skills in a friendly and supportive environment
  • Opportunities to work with staff and fellow volunteers during the year and an invite to our member celebrations where you can help us recognise the achievements of our members
  • Regular meetings with your supervisor to discuss how your volunteering is going and what other opportunities and training may be available to you together with an induction

  • Coordinate guest speakers and member attendance for monthly meetings
  • With support from the staff team, help members to engage with the session and where appropriate use your initiative to support members

  • Motivate members of all abilities to take part in activities

  • If applicable, to help set up equipment before the group and help clear up equipment after the forum has finished

  • Feedback any challenges or opportunities that arise during session to the staff team

  • Collate member feedback from the forum
