Crisis at Christmas Project Support Volunteer

Location: Oxford

When: Mondays 10.00am - 12.00pm

Role reports to: Progression Coach

You will contribute to ending homelessness by

 

Improving and supporting the better engagement of Crisis at Christmas volunteers. You will do this by dealing with a high number of enquiries and volunteer applications. This will involve answering telephone and e-mail enquiries and generally supporting the work of the volunteer team in this large scale volunteer project.

 

 

  • Excellent telephone manner, an ability to deal with high volumes of enquiries in a professional and friendly manner
  • Willingness to learn and work with the Christmas database
  • Good IT skills and able to use Outlook 
  • Good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as part of a team in busy environment
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Empathy with the work and objectives of Crisis and the homelessness sector

 

 

  • You will gain experience of working with a major UK Charity on a high profile and large scale project
  • You will have the opportunity to be part of a team making a real difference to the lives of homeless people over the Christmas period
  • You will gain administration, customer services skills and how to work with databases
  • You also will learn how to support volunteer training and community engagement events
  • On the job training and any other relevant training will be provided
  • Informative and structured induction to the role and organisation
  • One to ones with a designated supervisor
  • Travel (within Greater London) and lunch expenses reimbursed

 

 

  • To assist with recruitment of over 10,000 Crisis at Christmas volunteers
  • To support the running of the Volunteer Helpline
  • To answer enquiries about the Crisis at Christmas project via email and phone
  • To assist with processing volunteer applications and maintaining the volunteering database
  • To assist with the delivery of volunteer training sessions and community engagement events
  • To support the overall delivery of the project in the run up and during Christmas

 

We expect volunteers to comply with Crisis policies including health and safety, data protection and code of conduct at all times.
